CBT Therapist
Helen is a Mental Health Practitioner and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. Helen has a wide range of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in various settings. She has over ten years of experience working in various NHS specialist services, social care and voluntary organisations within the UK. She has worked with a range of mental health conditions in both inpatient and community services using an evidence-based approach. Helen works holistically to understand a person and adapts any treatments as needed to enable them to make sustainable changes that enhance their well-being.
Training and Qualifications
Helen is passionate about helping people maintain both mental and physical health. Helen completed her Psychology degree from the University of Surrey in 2008, followed by a two-year Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health Studies at the University of Southampton in 2010. Helen has since been trained as a yoga teacher to allow her to better understand how movement, mindfulness, and breathwork can help contribute to good psychological and physical wellbeing. Helen later trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to be able to deliver high quality CBT interventions in accordance with NICE Guidelines. Helen uses a person-centred approach and draws on a range of theoretical models including Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Systemic Therapies, Compassion Focussed Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, alongside her core training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Helen is currently working as a CBT therapist in Hampshire Children and Adolescent Services. She works both individually and facilitates group work. Her primary role when working in specialised inpatient services was delivering group interventions and helping to set up and facilitate recovery focussed programmes within the service. Areas of specialist work include forensic services, inpatient eating disorder, domestic abuse, substance misuse, learning disability and specialised Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.
