How it works
1. Tell us what you are looking for
You can book an appointment or contact us with a short description of the support you need.
2. We consider the right professional fit
We look at age, presenting difficulties, complexity and the type of assessment or support likely to be most useful.
3. You meet with a clinician
Appointments may take place in person or online, depending on the service and your circumstances.
4. You receive clear next steps
We explain our findings, discuss options and provide recommendations. Where relevant, this may include a written report, treatment plan or onward care recommendations.
Why choose UMID
Careful assessment
We take time to understand the full picture, not just a list of symptoms. This includes getting to know you, what is important for you and your goals and objectives.
Clear formulation
A diagnosis can be helpful, but it is not always enough. We aim to explain what may be driving the difficulty, what is maintaining it, and what is likely to help.
Multidisciplinary perspective
Some people need more than one professional view. UMID brings together clinicians from psychiatry, psychology, therapy, occupational therapy and wider mental health practice.
Practical recommendations
We focus on useful next steps. This may include treatment options, therapy recommendations, reasonable adjustments, school or workplace suggestions, medication advice, or guidance for families.

- Children and young people needing emotional, behavioural or developmental support
