Specialist mental health, ADHD and autism care
CQC registered · Multidisciplinary care · Online and in person
UMID is a CQC-registered multidisciplinary mental health practice offering assessment, treatment and therapeutic support for children, young people and adults.
We provide in-person appointments in Hampshire and secure online care across England.
Care that starts with understanding
People come to UMID when they need clarity. You may be looking for an ADHD or autism assessment, support with anxiety or low mood, help for your child, therapy, medication review, occupational therapy input, or a joined-up plan where difficulties overlap.
Trauma-informed support for adopted children and parents
Multidisciplinary assessment and ongoing therapy · Adopted children, young people and their families · In person in Hampshire or online
Adopted children have usually lived through separation, neglect or abuse before they arrived, and often adversity that began before birth. Those experiences shape how a child manages strong feelings, whether they can trust adults and how they cope in a classroom. They are easily mistaken for wilfulness, or for a neurodevelopmental condition on its own.
We assess the whole picture rather than the presenting problem. A consultant psychiatrist, a psychological therapist, a clinical psychologist and an occupational therapist each contribute, the previous records are read and set alongside the school's account, and the team agrees the findings together. Where therapy follows, we provide it ourselves.

Why choose UMID
Careful assessment
We take time to understand the full picture, not just a list of symptoms. This includes getting to know you, what is important for you and your goals and objectives.
Multidisciplinary perspective
Some people need more than one professional view. UMID brings together clinicians from psychiatry, psychology, therapy, occupational therapy and wider mental health practice.
Clear formulation
A diagnosis can be helpful, but it is not always enough. We aim to explain what may be driving the difficulty, what is maintaining it, and what is likely to help.
Practical recommendations
We focus on useful next steps. This may include treatment options, therapy recommendations, reasonable adjustments, school or workplace suggestions, medication advice, or guidance for families.
Who we support
We work with:
- Adults and children seeking mental health, ADHD or autism assessment
- Children and young people needing emotional, behavioural or developmental support
- Parents looking for clarity about their child’s needs
- People with overlapping mental health and neurodevelopmental difficulties
- Families needing joined-up advice
- Professionals seeking a specialist opinion or treatment plan

I found the session really helpful to consider practical strategies for managing summer holidays. The presenters shared useful examples and explanations. I liked that it included practical and clear steps to follow and remember. I also felt the presenters were really understanding and encouraging.

UMID carried out a very thorough assessment and have tried really hard to engage my daughter and go at her pace. They have also liaised with school which was very helpful. It is early days at the moment but I’m hopeful it will have an impact and help her and our family.
