Practice Manager
Karen is Umid's Practice Manager, bringing a diverse skill set with experience in both management and clinical work within the mental health sector. Karen is part of the Senior Management Team, ensuring the smooth daily running of the service. This includes being our point of contact for referrals and bookings, leading our monthly clinical governance forums, and ensuring our team follows guidelines and offers the best possible service and support to our clients.
Karen began her career as a Project Officer, managing and delivering projects in the environmental and charitable sectors before transitioning into the health sector. Her new career path started with training and working as an Occupational Therapist specialising in mental health, before progressing further as a CBT Therapist. In a voluntary capacity, Karen has served as a Trustee, supporting her local church through a relocation and redevelopment process over several years. As an Occupational Therapist and CBT Therapist, Karen has a wealth of experience working in both inpatient and outpatient care within the NHS and private sector. Alongside her role as our Practice Manager, Karen continues to work therapeutically with a small number of clients, specialising in supporting those aged 16 years and over with depression and anxiety disorders.
Karen completed her degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of Brighton before later completing post-graduate training at the University of High Intensity (HI) Training, earning a Postgraduate Diploma in Evidence-Based Psychological Treatment (IAPT Pathway). Karen is fully accredited by the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP) and holds registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
