Assistant Psychologist
Sophie is an Assistant Psychologist at Umid whose long-term passion for psychology has led her to this role. She is strongly committed to person-centred approaches and values supporting individuals in a compassionate and collaborative way. At Umid, Sophie plays a key role in supporting specialist MDT assessments, liaises with services and colleagues, and provides general non-clinical support to the team.
Sophie graduated with First-Class Honours in Psychology from Royal Holloway, University of London. She achieved a First in her dissertation, “Music-Induced Emotion: Investigating the Role of Melody and Lyrics on Sadness”, which examined the effects of sad music on mood.
Alongside her studies, Sophie worked as a Research Assistant on the AdSleep project, funded by the Leverhulme Trust and led by researchers including Rebecca Crowley, Jakke Tamminien, Jessie Ricketts, Lisa Henderson, and Gareth Gaskell. This ongoing project investigates adolescents’ sleep hygiene and behaviours, and their impact on learning. Through this work, Sophie further strengthened her existing passion for sleep research and its connection to mental health and wellbeing.
Sophie is preparing for the next step towards becoming a Clinical Psychologist and is deeply passionate about supporting individuals with mental health needs.
